TASK-IT

The Project

Task-IT embarked on a transformative journey to redefine task management for teams and individuals. As the lead UX Designer, I spearheaded the initiative to overhaul a platform burdened by convoluted navigation and an outdated interface. Our goal was to craft a cloud-based, omni-channel experience that resonated with our core values and addressed our users' daily challenges.

The Problem

Users of Task-IT struggled with a platform that was once cutting-edge but had since lagged in innovation. The primary challenges included a navigation labyrinth, a lackluster list view, communication breakdowns, and a cumbersome ideation process—all contributing to decreased user satisfaction and engagement.

The Solution

Our solution was a holistic redesign of Task-IT, focusing on a unique design system that brought life to task organization with color-coded categories, facilitated seamless team collaboration, and provided a multi-faceted dashboard. This approach was geared towards creating a user experience that felt less like managing a task and more like engaging in a productive dialogue with one's workflow.

Deliverable

  • UX: User Personas, Journey Maps, Task Flows
  • UI: High-Fidelity Prototypes, Visual Design Language, Interaction Models
  • Branding: Iconography, Color Schemes, Typographic Style

Tools Used

  • Design and Prototyping: Figma, Sketch
  • Graphics: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
  • User Research: UserTesting.com, SurveyMonkey
  • Project Management: JIRA, Trello
  • Communication: Slack, Zoom

"Unearthing Insights"

-DISCOVERY-

We began with an in-depth discovery phase, conducting interviews and utilizing surveys to build a comprehensive understanding of our users' behaviors, needs, and frustrations. A proto-persona, "Priya – The Project Manager," emerged as a guide for our design decisions.

"Gathering the Pieces"

-RESEARCH-

Our research was robust, incorporating user interviews that revealed the need for a task management system that was not just a tool, but a partner in productivity. The findings shaped our design principles, emphasizing clarity, efficiency, and collaboration.

"What I Learned"

-KEY LEARNINGS-

This project served as evidence of how well user feedback may influence design. It strengthened my conviction that adaptability and empathy are essential skills for designers to possess. The cross-departmental collaboration demonstrated that optimal outcomes arise from a well-balanced combination of varied specialization and user-centered approach.
